Hí
Tôn Hiếu Văn Hoàng Đế 熙尊孝文皇帝 (Nguyễn Phước Nguyên
阮福源, Tế Vương or Sãi
Vương, 1613-1635) was called Phước Nguyên ; he was the 6th son of
Gia
Dũ and of the queen reine of the patronomic name of Nguyễn. He was born
the day giáp
thìn from the 7th month of the year qui-hợi (1563), 6th of the
administration of Gia Dũ in Thuận Hóa, or of Chính
Tri period (1558-1571) of king Lê Ânh Tông 黎英宗
(1531-1573). When his mother still pregnant, she dreemed of a person
who gave her a paper sheet filled of characters Phước 福.
When she wake up, she gave the day to a boy. She chose the Phuớc
character to compose the name of her son, she made this reflexion :
« If I employ this character like personal name of my son, he
will be alone to bear this name in my family ; while if I intercalate
it between the patronymic name and the personal name, ten thousand
descendants of my family will be able to make use of it, which will
make ten thousand Phưoc or “prosperity for my family ».
It is as from this moment that the members of the royal family were called Nguyễn Phước 阮福. Généalogies
